We now offer online classes for adults and young performers. All online classes are completely interactive, and in keeping with Factory policy, are limited in size to ensure plenty of individual attention.

 

Our online classes are delivered via the free Zoom app and will require an internet-connected desktop or laptop computer, tablet or phone and a quiet, well-lit place in your home. Data rates may apply.

 

All class times are Central Time (CST)

VOICE OVER

Voice Over returns to The Factory with a new instructor. Jamie Marchi has voiced over 400 characters in anime, video games and animation, and has performed commercials and books on tape. She travels the world making appearances for her characters. The class will cover setting up the home studio, how to find voice work, and she will work with students to learn to improve their narration and character techniques.

Kimberly Condict is a Los Angeles performer and instructor at the legendary The Groundlings and has worked with some of the country’s top sketch writers and performers. This class will teach budding sketch writers and performers how to develop, refine and perform comedy sketches. Students will leave the class with 3-4 polished sketches of their own creation.

Los Angeles actor Mike Randleman has appeared in sketch comedy on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno 190 times, as well in some of the landmark sitcoms in the modern era, including Home Improvement and Arrested Development. He will work with actors to create and develop memorable comic characters to be used in sketch, short film, auditions and more.  Craft your characters into hilarious scenes and monologues and perform them the final night of class for a virtual live performance for friends and family.

APPROACHES TO ACTING

What's the best approach to acting for you? This class is a brief history of acting techniques and styles, with focus on the big 20th Century Stanislavski-style master teachers (Strasberg, Adler, Uta Hagen, Meisner & Michael Chekhov.) Who were they? How did they each impact acting styles in theatre & film? The class will include a few exercises related to what each teacher believed & discuss some inspiring chapters in their books.

It’s hard to play emotional scenes take after take in film, and night after night in theater. Learning the Michael Checkhov Technique of “Psychological Gesture” will probably help. Elizabeth Townsend is a professional actor from New York, and is certified to teach the Chekhov Technique.

As a film actor and theatre artist, Karli Blalock understands the importance relaxation, centering and finding balance has for actors. As someone suffering from chronic pain, she has learned how yoga can be the healthy elixir for all. This yoga class is suitable for all, but intended for the actor, as her bi-weekly class will give instruction and feedback focused for the actor's journey.

Learn how to write and develop your own screenplay with a multiple award-winning screenwriter and filmmaker. Sterlin Harjo's first three films premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, and he currently has films and television series in development with HBO, Amazon and other outlets. One of his current projects, RESERVATION DOGS, co-created with Oscar-winner Taika Waititi, will go into pilot production with the FX Network very soon.

A fast and funny, creative and empowering online class designed especially for kids stuck at home, needing to create, hoping to thrive. Now, kids from all over the country can study with Actor Factory improv teachers from the comfort of their home.

Actor Factory Young Performer Academy improv instructors and professional improv performers Kate McLain-Snipes and Pallas Johnson, both of OKC Improv and Take One Improv, will team-teach this class designed especially for young performers to take via Zoom. Young Performer Academy instructors Chris Oz McIntosh and Tori Hartley lead this shortened version of Academy, helping young actors improve their audition techniques for film, television and commercials. Each week will have either a live mock audition assignment or an evaluation of a submitted self tape.  McIntosh is an award-winning filmmaker and is the director of the Factory’s Young Performer Academy.  Hartley is a casting assistant at Freihofer Casting as well as being a professional actor who has appeared in films and commercials.

Mary Anthony is a regular performer with the famous UCB Theater in Los Angeles, a legendary group whose alumni include Kate McKinnon, Ellie Kemper, Aubrey Plaza, Donald Glover, Aziz Ansari, Adam McKay and Amy Poehler among many others. But before moving to Los Angeles, Mary taught Young Performers at The Actor Factory.  Using improve and sketch techniques, she will return virtually to teach Young Performers how to create and perform hilarious and memorable comic characters. The final class will be a virtual performance for family and friends.
