WHAT IS FILM CAMP?
Receive a tailor-made demo reel through our one-of-a-kind, immensely popular Film Camp. Young Performers beat the summer heat and kick-start their careers with a week-long immersion in film acting. They learn the ropes and forge new friendships, all while creating material that will take them to the next level of their acting career.
In this immersive experience, campers spend an entire week with Factory staffers and industry professionals, acting in and filming personalized demo reels crafted just for them. They compete in a 2-day film race, creating a short film on the spot. Culminating the week, campers arrive by limousine on Saturday night, walking the red carpet and watching their on-camera work on The Factory's HD projection screen – all while their parents snap pics all the way. It's the camp our young performers eagerly talk about all year!
However, the true highlight is the creation of individualized, high-quality demo reels. A young performer’s demo reel reflects them as an actor, and at The Factory, our goal is to provide them with marketing material that shows them in their best light.

CAMP DETIALS
The most anticipated event at The Actor Factory returns for its 13th year! Young Performers beat the summer heat and kick-start their career with a week-long immersion in film acting.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Campers fill out a brief questionnaire, guiding our staff to curate scenes and characters that are needed for the camper’s demo reel.
Dedicated writers spend the days leading up to camp meticulously crafting these scenes, ensuring they authentically showcase the camper's versatility.
After rehearsing the scenes with the campers, professional filmmakers step in to shoot the scenes, designed to look clipped from full-length projects with other campers as scene partners.
WHAT IS A DEMO REEL?
A Demo Reel is a sampling of your on-camera work, sent to talent agents, casting directors and filmmakers, as well as posted on actors' online casting profiles. The importance of this material has exploded over recent years as more and more actors are booked on projects based solely on their demo reels.

SCHEDULE
Get ready for your cinematic journey with our Film Camp schedule:
Tuesday and Wednesday

Campers learn the nuances of acting for the camera, understanding the distinctions from stage acting.

They practice essential skills such as hitting marks, finding key lights, and adjusting performances for the lens.

Each camper is assigned two scenes—one comic and one dramatic.
Thursday through Saturday

Campers dive into the filmmaking process, filming scenes and experiencing the challenges of acting in a motion picture.

Serving as crew members during other scenes, they learn essential roles on set.

Scenes are shot with professional film equipment, resulting in up to a 2-minute demo reel per camper.
48 Hour Film Race
Along with shooting demo reels, all campers compete in a 48-hour film race, also to be shown at the Saturday Red Carpet Premiere.

The campers will be divided into 3 teams. By random draw, each team is assigned a color, an object, a random line of dialogue, and a camp counselor- all things that have to be included in their 5-minute film, featuring every camper.

Teams are given 48 hours to write, shoot, and edit their films for screening at the Saturday Red Carpet Premiere. The judges will evaluate the films based on their use of required elements, performance, storytelling quality, and production excellence to select the winning film.
Post-Production Blitz
Although the camp officially concludes on Friday evening, camp instructors work tirelessly on post-production, spending Friday night and all day Saturday editing footage into finished products.
Red Carpet Premiere
Experience the journey of Young Performers Film Camp unfold on the big screen at the Red Carpet Premiere!

All campers and their families are invited to the premiere of the demo reels they created, shown on the 120-inch big screen.

Campers will make a grand entrance in a limousine and will be joined by camp leaders, adult class instructors, and invited industry guests. It's a night of celebration you won’t want to miss!

CHRIS FREIHOFER
Camp Producer
Chris Freihofer is the owner and director of the Actor Factory, a seasoned acting teacher, a professional actor, and Oklahoma’s only CSA casting director. He will help throughout camps and co-direct the demo reels.
JEFFREY NICHOLSON
Cinamatographer
Award-winning L.A. filmmaker and photographer, known for directing feature films EL COYOTE and SOUL FRACKERS, will co-direct scenes and be the director of photography for the demo reels.

Editor & Camp Counselor
Award-winning filmmaker, recently editor of the feature film SOUL FRACKERS directed by Jeffrey Nicholson. will lead the technical instruction of film camp and will be the editor of all demo reels.
Melanie Baxter
Camp Counselor
Award-winning actor with a BFA in Acting from the OU, Melanie has appeared in numerous commercials, films, and TV shows. She stars in FAIRWOOD on Crackle and the upcoming Hulu series THE LOWDOWN with Ethan Hawke. A Factory regular, she teaches at Film camps and assists in adult classes.
EMILY BERTELS
Camp Counselor
High school teacher and professional actor, this will be Emily's 5th camp to work as crew- typically working as the sound recordist. She has appeared in the Lifetime film DEADLY SEDUCTION, as well as ALL TERRAIN and the Netflix series THE LAST DEFENSE.

A non-refundable $200 deposit is required upon enrollment to secure your spot.
