GISTER METHOD WEEKEND INTENSIVE

GISTER METHOD WEEKEND INTENSIVE

6/27/26, 5:00 PM

Dr. Joe Alberti, the world's authority on The Gister Method, leads a 2-day intensive on the eye-opening approach to acting.

9 AM - 5 PM

SATURDAY & SUNDAY, JUNE 27-28, 2026

The Gister Method is a fantastic approach to acting, getting actors out of their head.  It empowers actors to stop worrying about how a line sounds, or "the best way to say it", and instead focus on their scene partner and what change they are trying to get from them.  It is a freeing approach that leads to truthful performances, stripping away all the "acting". The method focuses on a unique principle of "action" that emphasizes how an actor tries to make a scene partner feel, rather than just what they are trying to do.

Earle Gister was a legendary master acting teacher who shaped the craft of thousands of performers while leading acting programs at the Juilliard School, Carnegie Mellon University, and serving as the Associate Dean of the Yale School of Drama. Gister trained many prominent actors who went on to achieve extraordinary success in theater, television, and film. His notable former students include Paul Giamatti, Angela Bassett, Liev Schreiber, John Turturro, Patricia Clarkson, Frances McDormand, Chris Noth, Courtney B. Vance, Ted Danson, Dylan Baker and many many more.

Dr Joe Alberti literally wrote the book on the approach, and is the foremost expert in teaching it.  He leads national and international workshops on the Gister Method, and teaches the regular weekly class at The Actor Factory in Norman, OK.  His 2012 book Acting: The Gister Method is the first to detail the approach, and is based on Alberti's first-hand accounts as well as all of Gister's notes, still in Alberti's possession.  "Dr. Joe" is a tenured professor of Acting and Voice at the University of Oklahoma.

In the weekend, Alberti will use assigned scenes to take actors through several exercises to learn the approach.  It is the same workshop he has taught in Europe and in China, and gives actors a concentrated, serious examination of the craft in a short amount of time.

The workshop is limited to only 12 participants.  Cost for the weekend is only $250.

A $100 non-refundable deposit will hold your seat, with the balance due June 21.

This class is open to anyone aged 18+, but it is recommended to not be for beginners.
