ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE WEEKEND INTENSIVE
Dr. Joe Alberti teaches the method used by actors to release chronic bodily tension, improve stage presence, and prevent performance anxiety.
9 AM - 5 PM
SATURDAY & SUNDAY, AUGUST 29-30, 2026
The Alexander Technique is a mind-body educational method that teaches people to recognize and eliminate harmful postural habits and unnecessary muscular tension. By re-educating your awareness of how you move, it aims to restore natural balance, improve coordination, and reduce physical stress.
How does it apply to acting?
By re-educating the mind-body connection, it enables performers to improve vocal projection, prevent injury, and move with natural poise rather than habitual stiffness.
Key Applications are:
Vocal & Breath Freedom: Releasing tension in the neck and jaw allows for deeper breathing, better resonance, and improved projection.
Character Embodiment: It allows actors to adopt distinct physical mannerisms for a character—like a limp or stoop—without permanently locking those tensions into their own bodies.
Stage Fright Management: By grounding the feet and centering the head-neck-spine relationship, it calms the nervous system and reduces anxiety before auditions or performances.
Presence & Stillness: It teaches you to stop "doing too much" on screen or stage, giving you the ability to listen and react authentically in the moment.
