Resize Your Photos

Casting office email boxes are often jammed with submitted photos that are too large in size.  Some casting offices even ask for photos to be within a certain size and will delete those that are too large.

Many headshots and photos are well over  1MB and even into the 6 and 7MB size.  This is just too big.  We provide these tips to help re-size your photos so your submissions will not be deleted.

1)  THE EASIEST way to re-size your photo is to upload it to Facebook, then download it back onto your hard drive.  The photo will then be under 200KB in size.

2)  FOR MAC USERS  Open your photo in Preview.  Go to Tools.  Scroll down to Change Size.  Select the size you would like based on the calculations it will make.  Then click Save As to then have a smaller version of your photo.

3)  FOR PC USERS (other than Windows 7):  Open your photo in Windows Picture Viewer.  Select Edit Photo.  Scale the photo down in size per the tab.  Select Save As to then have a smaller version of your photO.

4) WINDOWS 7 USERS:

  • Open Photo Gallery by clicking the Start button . In the search box, type Photo Gallery, and then, in the list of results, click Photo Gallery.

  • Select the photo or photos that you want to edit, and then, at the top of the screen, click the Edit tab.

  • Select the photos you want to resize, and then on theEdit tab, in the Properties group, click Resize.

  • Click the Select a size list, and then select a size for your photos. For a custom size, in the Maximum dimensions box, enter the maximum width you want your photos to be.

  • Click Resize and save. To save resized photos to another location, click Browse, and then select an existing folder to save your resized photo in.

AND WHILE YOU'RE AT IT:  Change the File Name of your new re-sized photo to Your Name to make it easier on the casting office.  Click Save As to do it.  Example:  YourName, jpg or Your_Name.jpg
