Mike Randleman

Actor/Sketch Performer

"Eight weeks after we moved to Los Angeles, Victoria was pinned for a Nickelodeon show and then sent to Mix and Match.  As soon as Victoria got her first callback, we contacted Mike and he worked with her to develop 3 characters for the remaining auditions. Those characters got her through 3 additional auditions and then to Mix and Match.  He is fantastic!"

Mike Randleman is a Los Angeles-based actor and sketch performer, who has appeared on sketch stages all over Los Angeles with his groups The Heimlich Maneuvers and with Mass Hysteria at Second City LA. He also appeared in sketch comedy on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno 190 times.

Mike will work with actors via Zoom to create and develop memorable comic characters to be used in sketch, short film, auditions and more.  By the end of the class, each student will have a “character reel” they can pull from regularly.

"At The Groundlings, they use to tell us you only need one great character to get Saturday Night Live," Randleman says.  "It’s my goal in this class to help you find that one great character--and a couple of great backup characters as well."

Each week, Randleman will warm up the class and get the creative juices flowing. Then he will work individually with each actor in developing characters in improv scenes or monologues, giving notes and guidance along the way. The final night of class will be a virtual performance for friends and family, performing their “character reel” live, much in the way auditions for SNL are handled.

Originally from Rector, Arkansas, and after graduating college in three years, Mike received his MFA in Acting from the University of Oklahoma and promptly headed west, where he has resided ever since. He immediately fell into the LA comedy scene.

He appeared on loads of sitcoms including Home Improvement, Malcolm in the Middle, Even Stevens, Arrested Development, Grounded for Life, The Drew Carey Show and The Middle, as well as the dramas ER, Ally McBeal, Bones, Criminal Minds, United States of Tara and recently SWAT. Film appearances include Chaplin, A Cinderella Story, The Trial of Old Drum and The Salton Sea. He also developed a popular web series, The Celibate, in which he also stars.
